I think it's officially when you get most of the way through your trip and realise you've worn the same jeans and 3 shirts, instead of all the "options" you packed. But returning home with a suitcase half full of clean clothes could be seen as a blessing! Happy New Year to u and the Budman!
overpacked means i am male and i brought more than a toothbrush.
prepared means i am female. besides if you aren't adequately "prepared" you'll end up buying whatever you didn't bring and then you'll have two.
even with best efforts, we still overpacked.
