The shopping began at the Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele II, an ornate shopping arcade known as Il Salotto di Milano (Milan's drawing room). The building itself is a treat for the eyes in and of itself; the roof was the first structure in Italy to use metal and glass in a structural way, rather than purely for decoration.
We wandered through the streets with all the wonderful designers and shops for the better part of the afternoon. That night, we had dinner and coffee at Il Salotta, supposedly the best coffee in Milan.
And yes, purchases were made.
