That Italian food

Italian food is simply the best. And the wine is not bad either. Budman and I had some great meals while we were in Italy...here are some of our favorites.

(1) Pasta, pasta, pasta - can you ever get enough of this? But, remember, pasta is a first course (following your appetizer but before your main course). "What, pasta is not the main meal"? No, it is not.

(2) Pasta, pasta, pasta - it deserves two special mentions.

(3) Italian wines are great. We tried alot of them, and while not being wine connoisseurs, it was fun to experiment with wines from different regions. And yes, Chianti is actually quite good, although it gets a bum rap in the states.

(4) Lemon cello (sp?) - an experience to be sure, but burns like the fire in my opinion.

(5) Cannollies - I LOVE THESE! (You can keep tiramisu).

(6) I am accustomed to the European style breakfast, and have come to embrace it. Sadly, my fellow travelers struggled without their scrambled eggs and bacon (again, I can remember that as well).

(7) Italian pizza has that really thin crust that is so good, and salty.

(8) And now for the BIG admission: this Texas gal actually began drinking cappuccinos for breakfast rather than the ritualistic Diet Coke (or Cola Lite, as they are called in Europe). Well, wonders never cease!

Surprisingly, only gained 1 pound while gone on holiday.

OOOOOOMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGG? You are drinking Cappuco's... I'm shocked... will need most of the day to absorb this news!

Let me guess why this occured... most places wouldn't sell diet coke, right? Shocked Swiss.

No, plenty of "Cola Lite" to be had. I would like t osawy it was b/c "when in Rome, do as the Romans do", but sadly I was cold.

Makes you look at The Olive Garden and Johnny Carino's in a whole new light. Let alone Little Sicily's in Waxahachie.
